About rule-level settings

From the rule workbench, you can configure the settings of a rule.

The following table shows the various settings available in the Settings tab.

Setting Description Default
Data quality dimension Allows you to associate a rule with an out-of-the-box or custom dimension. None
Tolerance

Allows you to define the minimum percentage of rule breaks that must be found to affect rule scores and statuses, and for any notifications tied to the rule to send. When a rule filter is applied, the percentage of rule breaks is calculated based on the filtered rows.

Enter a value between 0 and 100.

Note The value 0 is equivalent to not setting a rule tolerance threshold. This means that any percentage of rule violations will be considered a breach.

0
Description Allows you to enter a helpful description of your rule. None
Notifications

Allows you to add users who will receive a notification in the event of a rule that fails to run and throws an exception message, is breaking, or is passing.

The exception and breaking monitors will be applied to the rule with no message and the default recipient should be the user creating the rule.
