# Dataset Management

Dataset management allows admins to [configure the roles](/data-quality-self-hosted/admin-configuration/admin-console/role-management/dataset-management/assigning-roles-to-datasets.md) that can access specific datasets in Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted). There are three different degrees of access permissions that can be mapped to datasets:

* **Full permission roles**: Roles that allow unrestricted access to the dataset to which they are assigned. These roles can:
  * Use Explorer to create, edit, and run DQ Jobs.
  * Access the Findings page to see results from DQ Job runs.
  * View source data in Data Preview.
  * Access the Rules page to write and manage rules.
  * Retrain datasets.
* **Read-only roles**: Roles that allow access to the Findings page to see results from DQ Job runs, but have restricted access to other areas of the application. These roles have:
  * Restricted access to Explorer to create, edit, and run DQ Jobs.
  * Restricted access to view source data in Data Preview.
  * Restricted access to the Rules page to write and manage rules.
  * Restricted access to retrain datasets.
* **Partial roles**: Roles that allow any combination of Data Preview access, the ability to retrain datasets, and the ability to access the Rules page to write and manage rules.
