# Rule Builder

The Rule Builder consists of two primary components:

* [Dataset Rules](/data-quality-self-hosted/core-concepts/dq-rules/rule-builder/working-with-dataset-rules.md) where you can view and manage all SQL rules on the dataset-level.
* The [Rule Workbench](/data-quality-self-hosted/core-concepts/dq-rules/rule-builder/working-with-the-rule-workbench/create-a-data-quality-rule.md) where you can build and refine new and existing SQL rules on the dataset-level, apply DQ Dimensions, and configure scoring weights.

## Prerequisites

You need the following roles to view, create, and edit rules:

* ROLE\_ADMINor
* ROLE\_DATASET\_RULESor
* ROLE\_DATASET\_MANAGER
