# Configure Google Cloud Storage (GCS) connections on Kubernetes

This section shows you how to enable Google Cloud Storage (GCS) remote file connections on cloud native deployments of Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted). Without this configuration, creating a Data Quality job against a GCS connection on Kubernetes fails with a "Cannot Read Remote File System" error, even though the connection's data preview works correctly.

This capability is only available for Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) versions 2026.08 or newer.

## Prerequisites

A Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) deployment on a self-hosted Kubernetes platform, such as EKS, GKE, or AKS.

## Steps

Set the following value to deploy or update the Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) app with the provided Helm charts: `--set global.livy.gcs.enabled=true`. Enabling this flag configures Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) to securely pass your connection's credentials to Livy on your behalf. You don't need to configure any additional volumes, Secrets, or credential files yourself.

In the [Admin Console](/data-quality-self-hosted/admin-configuration/admin-console/connections.md), click **Connections**, then add your Google Cloud Storage connection as you normally would.
