# Installing Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) on self-hosted Spark Standalone

Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) can be installed and operated on a single standalone host, which is useful when large scale and high concurrency checks are not required. In this mode, Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) leverages a Spark Standalone pseudo cluster in which the master and workers run and use resources from the same server.

The DQ Standalone application consists of the following components:

* DQ Web
* DQ Agent
* DQ Metastore (PostgreSQL database)
* Spark (Pullup only)

![Fig 1: Architecture overview of Full Standalone Installation mode](https://4121921244-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWCrP7Albs8DfJjIQxUxw%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-72a780a05b98d1f08e1e2be32dcf2bb848ec80c4%2FScreenshot%202021-06-14%20at%205.44.53%20PM.png?alt=media)

Data Quality & Observability (self-hosted) provides the option to include the PostgreSQL metastore in the installation or use an external PostgreSQL metastore (recommended).
